Case Study: The Resource Curse in Botswana & Sierra Leone


This project was a research case study on the resource curse and how it affected the states of Sierra Leone and Botswana, where despite both countries having high deposits of primary and secondary diamonds, the windfall gains from these exports impacted both countries in very different ways. This essay gives an overview of the various governmental and economic policies instituted by each of the governments in response to increased resource revenues, as well as the social and political conditions that impacted the ways in which these rents were applied for state development.
